The SuperChannels add a whole new dimension to the APEX Live Channels by providing flexible and dynamic presentation of live information.

The ability to combine web contents in the reports allow for the Live Channels to be more interesting and appealing especially for use in places such as the cafeterias or break rooms. Now, one can read the latest news and KPIs side by side on the same screen.

The new version also brings a number of major process and architectural enhancements especially in the APEX Administrative and Designer application. The new enhancements have improved the design and management of the reports as well as providing more options and tools to further enhance the rich graphical experience.

The Info Center portal can be integrated with the corporate web site. This will allow easier access of all corporate users to the APEX channels and reports. This will increase the visibility of the APEX information within the corporate enterprise as well as improve information awareness.

The Charlotte plant will utilize the APEX Automated Email Services to send daily set of production and KPI reports for the Rolling Mill and the Melt shop. The recipients will range from floor supervisors to regional management for Gerdau Ameristeel.

The Charlotte plant will also incorporate the Live Channels on large screen LCD displays throughout the rolling mill and the melt shop. These scoreboards will provide a wide variety of information to the operators such as live production information as well as up-to-date KPIs.

APEX was implemented at the Charlotte mill in order to improve the visibility of both Melt Shop and Rolling Mill’s production and performance information from their QMOS production management system.

The charlotte mill is using APEX to display current status and KPI information on a large LCD screen on the shop floor. There are plans to place a few more displays in other locations such as the main office, break rooms, locker rooms, cafeteria and more.

APEX is sending daily production and performance reports to the management, supervisors, and key operators as well as the regional managers on daily basis. The APEX reports have replaced Charlotte’s excel based reports that used to be prepared manually on daily basis and send to all key people. Now, the real-time information is being sent on-time, everyday in the form of highly comprehensive graphical reports.

In addition, all KPI reports are available on-line via the web.
