Gerdau Ameristeel Charlotte implements APEX
Gerdau Ameristeel Charlotte has become the first APEX customer.
APEX was implemented at the Charlotte mill in order to improve the visibility of both Melt Shop and Rolling Mill’s production and performance information from their QMOS production management system.
The charlotte mill is using APEX to display current status and KPI information on a large LCD screen on the shop floor. There are plans to place a few more displays in other locations such as the main office, break rooms, locker rooms, cafeteria and more.
APEX is sending daily production and performance reports to the management, supervisors, and key operators as well as the regional managers on daily basis. The APEX reports have replaced Charlotte’s excel based reports that used to be prepared manually on daily basis and send to all key people. Now, the real-time information is being sent on-time, everyday in the form of highly comprehensive graphical reports.
In addition, all KPI reports are available on-line via the web.
